Treasure Island – Miracle Theatre’s latest triumph!

It is that time of year again! My favourite time . . . It’s panto time!

I was delighted to be invited to the opening night of Miracle Theatre’s Treasure Island and what a fantastic night it was! Miracle Theatre continue their celebration of their 40th year with another stellar performance! Treasure Island, a refreshingly unusual pantomime choice, is a delight!

At the Princess Pavilion until the 5th January this show is a real Christmas treat.

The swashbuckling adventure takes our heros, and a bunch of blood thirsty pirates, from the Old Benbow Inn to the Bristol docks and then off in search of buried treasure, of course.

“This classic story may not lend itself so readily to the ‘oh no it isn’t – look out behind you’ style that we expect of a regular panto, however it is one of the most popular adventure stories ever written and it provides the perfect excuse for people of all ages to gather together for a shared experience of laughter and music, fabulous costumes and daring displays of dance and swordplay.” Bill Scott, Director.

There are plenty of laughs, excellent beards, ‘gentle’ audience participation and so many clever touches that will keep young and old thoroughly entertained.

Ben Gunn

For me Jason Squibb as Ben Gunn was an absolute highlight!! Just hilarious. And I couldn’t keep my eyes off Keri Jessiman, alias Betty Bloodblister, and her brilliantly naughty facial expressions, while Hannah Stephens, last year’s Aladdin, gives another energetic and endearing performance as our plucky and resourceful heroine.

Treasure Island is a barrel full of fun with plenty of laughter and light-hearted rough and tumble. The show is definitely enhanced by a wonderful live soundtrack provided by the Miracle Theatre’s very own shanty choir. And as usual the company deliver a high-spirited, sparkling performance that will amuse and entertain the whole family!

Don’t miss it!

Treasure Island is at Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion for 27 performances, from 13th December until 5th January. And the show will also be touring Cornwall through July and August 2020.
